General information

The planning material on Ridge & Route is general. It cannot account for the conditions, regulations or hazards at a particular site, and it replaces neither official land-manager guidance nor the judgement of someone qualified in law, medicine, finance, engineering or backcountry safety.

Verify before acting

You are responsible for checking current weather, closures, campground rules, permits, manufacturer instructions, vehicle limits, and the conditions of your own trip. Product specifications, prices, and land-manager rules change; always confirm against the current official or manufacturer source before making a consequential decision. Do not rely on a web page alone for a safety decision.

No endorsement

Mention of a product, brand, or campground is informational and does not constitute an endorsement, guarantee, or warranty. We do not publish invented field tests, and nothing is described as tested experience unless it was actually tested.

Intellectual property

Guides, photographs and page layouts on Ridge & Route are the work of this site unless a caption says otherwise. Where a third party supplied material, the notices page records the licence it came under. Republishing a guide in full, or reposting its images elsewhere, needs written permission first.

Advertising

Any advertising served on Ridge \u0026amp; Route sits in its own slot, away from the body of a guide, and is marked as advertising. Advertisers have no say in which camping subjects are covered or what a guide concludes.

Changes and availability

Pages may be corrected, updated, or removed. We do not guarantee that every page or external source remains available or current.

Corrections are applied to the page itself rather than collected in a separate list. When a statement is found to be wrong, the sentence is rewritten and the surrounding reasoning is adjusted to match, so a reader who arrives after the fix sees one coherent explanation rather than the original text plus a note. A guide that has been corrected may therefore differ from a copy you saved earlier.

The pages describe planning methods and general practice. They are written to be useful without knowing your location, your vehicle, your experience or the date of your trip, and that generality is the source of the limits above. Where a guide gives a framework, the framework is the part meant to travel with you; the specific conditions it is applied to have to come from a current source at the time.

Links out of this site point at sources a reader can check directly, such as land-manager pages and manufacturer documentation. Following one takes you to a site with its own terms and its own privacy practices. A link indicates that the destination was relevant when the page was written, not that the destination endorses this site or the reverse.

Quoting a short passage from a guide with a link back is welcome. Reproducing a full page, or reusing an image without permission, is not. Where material came from a third party, the notices page records the licence it was used under.
